The Importance of Remembering (God's word)

Remembering God and His word to do it

We must stay focused on the Lord Himself, lest we forget all that
He has commanded us to do, for our own good, and lest we forget all of
the mighty and wonderful things He has done for us. How He has delivered us from the power of sin and the devil. How He has taken us out of the kingdom of darkness and placed us into the kingdom
of His dear Son, the Son of His love.We must remember the things of God,
the things that pertain to everlasting life. There are three things
that will help us keep God's word fresh in our hearts and minds and they
are prayer, study of the holy scriptures, and meditation.
The "big three" prayer, study, and meditation are the ways we have
intimate fellowship with God. Jesus said in John 14:26 "But the Comforter
which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall
teach you all things, and bring all things to your REMEMBRANCE, whatsoever
I have said unto you". We know what Jesus said by reading scripture, the
Holy Ghost uses those scriptures we have read and studied to remind us of those
things as we go about our daily lives. When we meditate on the word of God
we are allowing the Spirit of God to write upon our hearts what thus saith the
Lord. Meditation keeps the word fresh in our minds and at the forefront of
our thoughts. This helps us to pray periodically through out the day according
to the will of God. These prayers will be effectual and ferverent because
they are the words of God that reveal His will. Jesus said in John 6:63 "It is the
spirit that quickeneth;the words that I speak unto they are spirit and they are life".
Using the big three will give us first hand knowledge of God and
discernment between truth and err. We see in Jeremiah 23:26-27 false prophets
who prophesied lies and caused the people of God to "forget" the name
of their God and follow after Baal. Today we see the same thing with so called
prophets appealing to people's flesh and saying things that God did not say.
They lure with promises of perfect health, riches and the pleasures of this life, when
God has promised none of these things. People have forgotten that Jesus came
to save the lost, give spiritual sight to the blind, spiritual hearing to the deaf
spiritual riches to the poor, and eternal life to the dead. And now I close with
an exhortation from Jude 1 starting at verse 17. But beloved, REMEMBER ye the
words which were spoken before of the apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ. How that
that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after
their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not
the Spirit. But ye beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying
in the Holy Ghost. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy
of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
